About Helios Mutual Fund
Helios Mutual Fund is run by Helios Capital Asset Management, founded by Samir Arora, a well-known Indian equity investor with over three decades of investment experience, including a prior role as CIO of Alliance Capital's Indian mutual fund business.
Ownership and Heritage
Samir Arora co-founded Helios Capital Management, a Singapore-based asset management firm, in 2005, well before entering India's domestic mutual fund industry. Helios Capital received SEBI's in-principle approval to launch a mutual fund business in September 2022, and formally launched Helios Mutual Fund in India in 2023, bringing Arora's long offshore investing track record into the domestic retail mutual fund space for the first time.
Fund Range and Approach
Helios Mutual Fund has built out an equity-focused scheme range since its 2023 launch, drawing on Arora's long-standing reputation for outspoken, high-conviction market commentary and stock-picking developed over his career managing offshore India-focused funds.
Who Should Consider Helios Mutual Fund
Investors interested in a fund manager with a long, well-documented track record from offshore fund management - even though the India-domiciled mutual fund business itself is more recent - may want to evaluate Helios Mutual Fund's specific scheme mandates and early performance.
A Note on New AMCs
Because Helios Mutual Fund's India-domiciled schemes only launched in 2023, they have a shorter retail track record than decades-old AMCs, even though the fund manager's own broader investing career is much longer. It's worth distinguishing between the manager's overall reputation and the specific scheme's own, more recent, published NAV history when evaluating it.
Checking a Scheme's Risk-o-Meter and Category
Every Indian mutual fund scheme is required to display a standardised risk-o-meter (ranging from "Low" to "Very High") on its factsheet, reflecting SEBI's categorisation rules for that specific fund type. Checking this alongside the scheme's exact category label - not just its name - is a quick way to confirm a fund actually matches the risk level you're comfortable with before investing.
Reading the Scheme Documents
Before investing in any specific scheme, it's worth reading its scheme information document (SID) and key information memorandum (KIM), both freely available on the AMC's own website - these spell out the exact investment mandate, risk factors, benchmark, and exit load in far more detail than any summary page, including this one, can provide.
Costs: Direct vs Regular Plans
Helios schemes are available as Direct Plans or Regular Plans. Use the Expense Ratio Impact Calculator on this site to estimate the long-term rupee impact of that choice.
Comparing Helios With Other Fund Houses
When comparing a Helios scheme against alternatives, its India mutual fund track record is shorter than most AMCs in this directory given the 2023 launch, so weigh the fund manager's longer offshore career and public commentary track record alongside the scheme's own, more recent published NAV history, rather than relying on either factor alone.
Investing With Helios Mutual Fund
Every Helios scheme tracked on this site shows live NAV, computed CAGR and absolute returns, and expense ratio, sourced from AMFI India and MFAPI - see the scheme list below, or open any individual scheme's page to project a SIP or lumpsum investment using its own historical performance and current NAV.
